Home Inspection Preparation
What can you do to be prepared?
The best way to prepare for an inspection
To ensure your inspection goes as smoothly as possible, there are a few simple steps that you can take to assist our inspectors. Firstly, ensure that all pets are contained to an area of the home that will not be inspected. The perimeter of the home should be accessible as well as crawl spaces and attic access points.
Inspection Preparation Checklist
Here is a list of items to help you prepare, so you get the most out of your home inspection.
- Make sure all areas of the home are accessible. This includes electrical panels, HVAC units, hot water tanks, attic, and crawlspace access points.
- Pick up clutter. The inspector will take photographs of the home.
- Repair any minor issues before the inspector arrives, i.e. leaky faucets, missing door handles, and trim.
- ALL UTILITIES MUST BE TURNED ON AT THE TIME OF INSPECTION.
- Pilot lights and any manual gas valves should be on.
- Make sure to have all pets contained when the inspector arrives.
- Unlock all sprinkler/irrigation controllers, gates, and electrical panels.
- Provide disclosure forms at the time of inspection, if available.
- Inform the inspector of any systems you do not want to be inspected.
